Drama

In a crumbling Soviet Union, the Petrosyan family finds themselves as outcasts—wherever they go. Their Armenian heritage marks them for discrimination, first in their home country of Azerbaijan and then in Russia. After finding their eternal hope through a church planted by American missionaries, the hostility of everyday life pushes them to seek refuge in the United States. In the shadow of exile, hope became their home. Based on a riveting true story of faith and hope set amidst great oppression, BETWEEN BORDERS is only in theaters January 26-28, 2025.

Liz's Character

Violetta Petrosyan

Violetta, a woman of Armenian descent, is a resilient and determined individual shaped by a life of displacement. Outspoken and passionate, she navigates the challenges of seeking asylum with her husband, Ivan. Violetta's character is defined by her unwavering convictions, blending a longing for justice with the primal instinct to provide stability and hope for her family, particularly her daughters. As the matriarch, her complex journey explores the delicate balance between deeply held beliefs and the practicalities of survival, revealing a woman of strength, courage, and love.

Fun Fact:

Liz is herself part Armenian, so when she was approached for the role of Violetta, she was more than excited to accept the role. She spent five weeks in Bucharest filming Between Borders and wrapped production three days before starting principal photography on Season 5 of The Chosen.
